It was said repeatedly last year: DO NOT modify any supplied parts! Did they think the rules changed for 2023!

              It’ll be overturned.

What a sham. I knew when this cookie cutter car was announced that there would be issues that would cost the teams money. Whatever the teams saved in costs of the car, they lose in fines due to someone's incompetence. If indeed Hendrick was supplied with parts that didn't meet spec and Nascar didn't act; shame on them!

Guess Nascar leadership needed some extra spending money since they are losing money every where else... 400,000.00 one pop.....

Will wait and see what happens with appeal. We will probably never know exactly what gets presented as the evidence but I do tend to believe a bit of what HMS put out in that statement.

Still though, without very clear guidance that they were OK, they don't go on the car. On a weekend with a brand new package taking away a large % of downforce to boot. They were consistent with the ones acessed against the 6 and 34 last season.

They take 'em out and still kick everyone's butt. Makes you wonder.

I wonder if the re-design of the noses of these cars gave Chevy an advantage...

Kinda funny how Hendrick’s argument is “they came from the supplier not fitting right”

but they had ones that were fine after NASCAR confiscated the ones they didn’t like…🤷🏻‍♂️

oh ya….and “you caught us before the race so the penalty doesn’t fit” is rich.

I think nascar provided the set of louvers after they confiscated Hendrick's. And it looks like this was a persistant problem of which Hendrick claims to have documented evidence to support their claim. I wonder if they are still suffering from a supply problem/shortage and just didn't have additional louvers and the ones in questions were all they had. Who knows.

Thunderstruck, no I’m just entertained by all the HMS fans squirming over this after ya’ll were popping champagne after Denny got DQ’d at Pocono last year. This is dumb, and so was that.

The louvre’s had nothing to do with Hendricks speed. 5 and 24 are crazy fast and it didn’t matter. Just like the piece of tape didn’t matter on dennys car. Whoever got out front at Pocono was gonna win. But NASCAR has set the precedent and they have to follow it…

The Hendrick statement is comical. Typical “we got caught and now we got deflect”

If the Louvres didn’t fit, why not just show up at the track without them in and go straight to the NASCAR hauler and say these crappy a$$ parts don’t fit?

I’m more annoyed by the talentless hack driving the 21 spinning out and costing Harvick the win

Hey I am all supportive if people don't like HMS... I dont like Gibbs.... I enjoy the back and forth. And even enjoy the hater comments. Its Fandom,lolol....

I do agree this car is junk, NASCAR and its parts supplied to the teams are a joke. I miss the days of team engineering, finding the gray areas.... Pushing the limit and finding that speed. Now we have the IMSA copy cat car and sport....

Have fun man, bust the fans chops... thats what we are here for... 😆... I can't stand 2 face, 2 finger Denny,lol..... I was probably one of the loudest laughing at Denny...lol

What I don't understand here based on Hendrick's comments is that if HMS had ill-fitting parts, then why didn't they go to NASCAR or the manufacturer instead of trying to modify it themselves? I feel like they only have a case here if they tried to go to NASCAR/manufacturer about it and then NASCAR/manufacturer didn't respond or didn't do anything about it. It ain't hard to make a phone call or send an email to fix this. They're HMS, if they make big enough noise NASCAR will provide them with proper parts. Or better yet, if this is a problem of things being not the proper part or made right, then why are other teams not having the same issues? Pretty bad excuses to me.
If the rule is to not modify a part, don't modify a part. No grey area there. Doesn't matter if it's a performance advantage or not, you don't modify a part.

It says specifically that they have documented unclear communication with Nascar. (second bullet point). And according to Knaus all they had left were ill-fitting louvers. I'm not one to know all the ins and outs of it but I seriously doubt someone would be stupid enough to put all four cars in jeopardy of heavy fines and penalties.

bigsilverstang I know they say that, but that's my entire point. If there was a problem, HMS should have told them before they even thought about touching the louvers - then show up with ill-fitting parts to the race wand call out NASCAR.
In my opinion, they look worse than NASCAR at the moment and NASCAR should be the ones looking bad.

I know Denny said on his podcast this week that NASCAR knows about these issues with the part manufacturers and has told teams they can make certain modifications as needed. But if that's the case, then maybe Hendrick took it too far, or maybe Hendrick did something NASCAR wasn't okay with. But either way, any modification they need to make should have been done in tandem with NASCAR to prevent this issue
                Working...
