That finish was epic! Indy car grew balls and let it finish under racing! Loved it.

The tire from Kyle Kirkwood’s car hit a white car in a parking lot. NO FANS were injured.

I expected worse with the speed it was traveling at. Like the whole front left to be "blown" off the car. I'm quite shocked

Did it go straight from the track to the car? I believe it might have bounced once before hitting the car, so it probably lost some momentum that way.

I do. I pull for the home team, and Newgarden was definitely my home team.
I bet you pulled for Iraq in the war, didn’t you?

You’d rather see the race end under caution?!? They let ‘em race to the checkers, you can’t get more “non-artificial” than that.

If you dislike NASCAR and their finishes so much, stop watching them.

Oh, THAT was certainly an intelligent response… 😂

You pull for all the other countries in the Olympics instead of the USA, as well?

Long post sorry, but it all sums up the Indy 500 and Monaco GP as a whole:

Being at Indy this year for the 500, to say the least the whole experience was amazing!! The atmosphere of attending it in-person is way more then you expect from the TV shots of packed stands as that place has 300K+ fans packed to the brim with little room for space throughout the day wherever you go! Sat right before the entry of turn 1 in the higher rows in the lower A Box, and you got plenty of viewing room to see the cars roar down the straight and attack turn 1 head on. Even for the 500, my secret parking spot that I always used at the Brickyard worked well for being close to the track along with getting out of the area and on the road quick, somethings never change over the years. Along with 2 coolers of Beer/Water/Food, your able to save a lot of money/time by not having to wait in-line for food/drink which also helps a lot!! Loved returning to Indy as a whole for the first time since 2015 and while I am defiantly renewing my Indy 500 tickets for next year, I will have to in the future have to make the trip down to Charlotte for the Coke 600 weekend a year or two from now.

For the finish, it's can be a double edged sword depending on how you look at it and see it as on one side, the race went 500 miles and finished under green with no overtimes like NASCAR and that last lap was thrilling to say the least, while on the other side IndyCar officiating made a call that hasn't been seen in a long time to give the leader the green/white together after 1 warm up lap while making sure there was an entertaining finish that did not end under yellow. That last happened most infamously in the 1997 Indy 500 where USAC officials bizarrely gave a yellow for Smoke brushing the wall with 2 to go as the leaders passed the line, and then as Arie approached the while flag with the field spaced out, the officials gave the green/white flags at once instead of yellow/white flags. Regardless I'm very happy Newgarden finally won the 500, well deserved and earned, but I also feel for Ericsson as I thought with that last red flag at 2 to go he had back to back 500's won based on 2 laps minimal to go green until IndyCar decided to change the restart with just 1 warm up lap to let it finish under green. I did have my own scanner with the IndyCar Officials channel put on it, and the decision was made decently quick by the officials to make it one warmup lap and then start with 1 to go while also determining the order when the yellow came out.

For Monaco, I will actually be one to defend the race we got this year as while Max won (heavily expected after Checo crashed in quali along with having pole) the ever looming threat of rain made this race into something of it's own, and when the heavens opened, the skill that these drivers have showed up. Half of the track dry while the other half is soaked made for some very exciting laps and seeing if someone was going to crash or not, let us not forget Max was mere inches from crashing his car in the wet at Portier on 50+ lap tires that were beyond worn out and him crashing would have more then likely made Alonso the winner (despite the ballsy call by AM to go on Mediums when it was pouring). Many other drivers had some saves and great driving in the mix conditions, making it a way better Monaco GP then I would have imagined. Leave it up to my team in Ferrari to mess up with Sainz on strategy, some traditions will never die lol. Also the total tally of overtakes on track were 22, the most since 2011, but before the rain hit and overtakes happened there we had 7 overtakes with the midpack teams giving some good racing throughout like usual. To be fair, Monaco was way more entertaining then what we got this year at Baku or Saudi Arabia in terms of the race as a whole, I am hoping that Spain gives us a great race with that godawful chicane finally being removed and allowing the track to flow so much better!!!

Wow, congratulations. This is one of the most ignorant responses I've seen on this forum. Good lord. How would it be be an issue if an international driver won a race in an INTERNATIONAL series.

Pato should have been the one to win if he hadn't been squeezed so much by Ericsson.

Nobody said it’d be an “issue.” But when it comes down to an American winning the 500 or someone from another country, I’ll take the American every damn time. I’m loyal to the home team. If you two yella poopers wouldn’t, that’s ignorant to me.

To be fair, your wording indicated that you would have had an issue with someone other than an American winning the race or if someone else was rooting for an international driver. I don't root for someone cause they're not American, and it's not un-American or ignorant of me if I want a talented driver, regardless of their home country, to win a race.
If that's not the case, then cool! I apologize for the misunderstanding.
